A total of 25 participants showed off costumes decorated with Aster flowers along about 100 meters of the road.
Jakarta Fine Arts and Ceramics Museum Hosts Malangan ExhibitionHead of Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency, Hasudungan Sidabalok said this activity also serves as a promotional event that Jakarta has the largest flower market in Southeast Asia.
"We hope that with this activity, public interest in flowers will increase," he said.
He explained that the festival, which will be held from Thursday (9/3) to Friday (9/4) tomorrow, will present a series of activities, starting from flower contests, flower fashion, vlog competitions, to the awarding of international MURI records.
At the Rawa Belong Flower Market, he continued, people can find a wide variety of fresh and cut flowers, both local and international. He hopes that the fresh cut flower sales sector will continue to grow through similar activities.
"If the promotion goes well, their turnover will automatically increase and people will become more familiar with this flower market," he added.
Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta UPT PPSHP, Astri Ilhamsyah, stated this year's Flower Festival featured the Aster flower as its theme. The theme is also part of a promotional effort to revive the popularity and sales of the aster flower, which had previously waned.
Therefore, the flower costume parade requires up to 20 costume pieces decorated with asters. There's also a professional flower arrangement competition, with 40 percent of the pieces being asters.
To be able to take part in these various activities, participants are required to purchase flowers from around 600 fostered traders at the Rawa Belong Flower Market.
In addition to the two competitions, the Flower Festival 2026 also features various activities, such as flower arranging workshops, talk shows about flowers and waste sorting.
"All of our activities are promotional. This will encourage people to come to Rawabelong and buy flowers," she stated.
